District ProjectThe Eliminate Project
The Eliminate Project is designed to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanis (MNT). MNT take the life of one mother or baby every 9 minutes. That is about 60,000 lives stolen each year due to MNT. To eliminate MNT, 129 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This will require $110 million for transortation and supplies and the commitment of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. This project will reach the most needing mothers and babies in the poorest regions of Earth. Putting an end to this disease is the beginning of healthier babies and mothers. |
Divisional ProjectSomeone is Listening
Suicide steals the lives of almost 40,000 people every year in the US alone. For people between 15 and 24 years old, suicide is the second leading cause of deaths. On average, one person looses his/her life to suicide every 13.3 minutes. "Someone is Listening" is designed to raise awareness for suicide and to encourage people may be struggling with this decision. It's goal is to push people to be more uplifting to those around them in order to make them know that somebody is listening and will always be there for them. |
Governor's ProjectChildren's Miracle Network
62 Children enter a Children's Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute. That is one child every second. Some children in these hospitals are battling cancer, suffering from traumatic injury, or require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease. Regardless of why the kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals always have their doors open. Since 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised over $5 billion to use for research, training, and equipment to help improve the lives of sick children. |
